  Acousmatic is a five track ep. It can be thought of as a work of concept in that it's mostly comprised of found and recorded sounds. The tracks thus attempt to dialogue with the musique concrete style, process, and theory in the sense that they are designed to incorporate and showcase these interesting sonic specimens. acousmatic sounds are ones that one hears without seeing the original causes behind them. Though much of today's music can be thought of as acousmatic in the sense that most music is recorded and hidden behind a veil of some electro-acoustic playback system, this ep is acousmatic in the sense that it directly depends on pre-recorded sounds. These sounds are also not always very easy to recognize. Sometimes a very common sound can get lost in a cacophony of other similar or louder sounds. Some sounds may be very distinct but they may have been distorted or arranged in such a way that makes it very difficult for a listener to recognize. This is part of the logic behind what is offered in the track titles. Being able to pick out the sounds will hopefully provide an added level of enjoyment and appreciation for the work and many of these sounds which may already be familiar to your ear. ... more
